The Lakehead University Concrete Canoe Team is a student-led initiative that designs, builds, and races a canoe made entirely out of concrete. As part of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineers and the Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition, we apply classroom theory into real-world engineering challenges - pushing the limits of material science, structural design, and project management.

From creating our own custom concrete mix to crafting the formwork and racing against teams from across Canada and the United States, every aspect of this project is student-driven.

Beyond the build, we focus on innovation, sustainability, and showcasing the strength and spirit of our home town Thunder Bay through our Canoe.
